Mamatha Chivukula, M.D.

Dr.Mamatha Chivukula is a motivated team player with a proven track record of achievement in a target-driven, result-oriented environment. Hardworking, passionate, and eager for further challenges to enhance my career path.

Dr. Mamatha Chivukula is a Board-Certified Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist;  Board-certified Cytopathologist, and specialty-trained Breast, Gynecologic, and peri-natal pathologist. She serves as Director of Breast Pathology Services at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center. Dr. Chivukula has extensive experience in multidisciplinary diagnostics and molecular aspects of cancer diagnostics and is dedicated to working closely with her clinical colleagues to ensure high-quality Women’s Health Services. Dr.Chivukula holds medical staff appointments at San Mateo Medical Center, Mills-Peninsula Medical Center, and Sequoia Hospital. 

Prior to joining Peninsula Pathologists, Dr.Chivukula held an academic position as Associate Profesor of Pathology at Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA, rated Top 7th in the US for Women’s Cancer Hospitals. With Breast and gynecologic oncologists and researchers, her collaborative research work yielded 54 publications and 70 published abstracts in leading journals. She has been a speaker and moderated teaching sessions and roundtable conferences Nationally and Internationally. She has co-authored three (3) pathology book chapters and taught medical students. She served as Education Director for the Prestigious ASCP organization and currently serves on Sutter Anatomic Pathology Education Committee as a member and continues her active research.            

Outside of her professional activities, Mamatha is a trail half-marathon runner and has been part of Costal trail runs for 12 years. She trains both at Gym and outdoors.  She also participates as a volunteer for SMMC’s “Walk with Doc” Program every year.
